Center for Transforming Communities

Resident and institutional partnerships are central to the work here. Center for Transforming Communities supports equitable community change through efforts to reduce the adverse impacts of community development and build residents' power and capacity. Its work includes shared decision-making practices intended to strengthen neighborhood resilience in Binghampton, the Medical District, Orange Mound, North Memphis, South Memphis, and Whitehaven. The Commons brings nonprofit, church, and ministry partners together in shared space to collaborate and build organizational capacity. Rooms at The Commons can also be reserved for events, with requests made at least two weeks in advance. The organization focuses on community development and resident participation in Memphis neighborhoods.
