Downtown Dog Rescue

Located in Maywood, Downtown Dog Rescue is a community veterinary clinic and dog rescue serving families throughout South Los Angeles and Southeast Los Angeles. It provides free and low-cost veterinary care through a pay-what-you-can model, including spay and neuter services, vaccinations, microchipping, wellness exams, and medical treatment. The organization also supports families with pet food and community outreach. Dogs in its adoption program receive spay or neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchipping, necessary medical care, training, and individualized attention while waiting for homes. Downtown Dog Rescue began in 1996 and expanded from helping individual pets to addressing barriers involving veterinary care, transportation, pet food, and other basic resources. Services are delivered through its Maywood clinic and outreach across the region.
