Reach A Child

REACH BAGs bring children's books to first responder offices across Wisconsin. Reach A Child is a Madison-based nonprofit that partners with police, fire, and other first responder departments to help adults engage children in crisis through reading. The organization serves children affected by situations such as automobile accidents, domestic disturbances, or temporary homelessness. Books and bags are provided to departments rather than sold, with sponsors supporting the program because local departments cannot include these costs in their budgets. Reach A Child also delivers refills and additional books to partner departments and works to establish new first responder relationships. Its stated vision is to comfort a child in crisis with a book.
