In Los Angeles, Tom of Finland Foundation is an arts organization and archive dedicated to preserving the legacy of artist Touko Laaksonen, known as Tom of Finland, and the art and culture his practice shaped. It stewards more than 11,000 artworks by over 700 queer artists, including paintings, drawings, photographs, prints, and sculptures. The foundation works with galleries and art institutions to exhibit and historicize Tom's works. It also supports contemporary artists through public projects and programming. Tom House, the foundation's historic Echo Park headquarters and former studio residence, became an artist residency program in 2011, where contemporary artists develop work and public exhibitions are hosted. Its initiatives and collaborations extend this work to communities internationally.
