Shabbat gatherings
Saturday morning services and monthly Friday Kabbalat Shabbat.
A lay-led, egalitarian Jewish minyan in Los Angeles. Established in 1999, the Shtibl Minyan gathers for prayer, Torah reading and study, and community events. Shabbat services take place on Saturday mornings at Beth Chayim Chadashim, with Kabbalat Shabbat on the final Friday of the month at members' homes. The community also observes Jewish holidays together. Members can participate by leading services, reading Torah, offering a d'var Torah, helping with kiddush, or simply attending. The minyan welcomes people across gender, age, race, sexual orientation, gender expression, and ability. Its independent structure gives members a role in the services and events, while its practice draws in part on neo-Hasidic traditions and a communal shtibl spirit.
