Midwest Dramatists Center

The Midwest Dramatists Center organizes a conference where playwrights share work, learn, and connect with others. Accepted plays receive readings by professional local actors, followed by adjudication from performing arts professionals. The program also includes guest discussions, breakout sessions, and events focused on the work of Kansas playwright William Inge. Its Inge Forum features a reading of an early play connected to Bus Stop and discussion of how the work developed into the play and 1956 film. The center invites playwrights from across the country to submit work and offers two registration scholarships for selected conference participants who demonstrate financial need. Public events are free to attend. The conference takes place in Olathe, Kansas.
