Exceptional Humans

Based in Kansas City, Exceptional Humans is a community organization supporting people with diverse abilities, including individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It offers programs focused on self-determination, community participation, and vocational skills. Teaching Empowered Communication is a training program for adolescents and young adults that develops communication, technology, self-advocacy, and vocational skills through podcasts, videography, infographics, and in-person presentations. Participants choose a communication format and engage with professionals and community members. The microenterprise program helps participants learn to build small businesses, market products, and sell them, while expanding their relationships and support networks. Community outreach connects participants with local communities and promotes awareness and inclusion. The programs aim to help participants communicate for themselves, build community relationships, and develop skills for employment.
