Created in 1992, Center for Houston's Future is a Houston nonprofit examining global trends and their effects on the region. It brings business, government, community, and academic stakeholders together for planning, research, consensus building, and action. The Center conducts economic research, develops strategic plans, holds community events, and develops civic leaders. Its work includes strategic initiatives, community outreach and thought leadership, and a Business/Civic Leadership Forum that has graduated more than 1,400 leaders. Current work includes Project Metis, focused on establishing the Houston/Galveston region as a global leader in brain health and the emerging brain economy. Past initiatives addressed energy, climate, health, health equity, and immigration.
