About American Legion
American Legion Baseball has developed leaders on and beyond the field since 1925. The American Legion is a veterans service organization that advocates for veterans, service members, and military families. Founded by an Act of Congress after World War I, it works on veterans' needs across generations and offers peer-to-peer mental health resources and suicide prevention training. Its programs also include Junior Shooting Sports, Boys State and Boys Nation, and a constitutional oratorical contest with scholarships. Members can access discount offers, while posts conduct Buddy Checks to connect with veterans. The organization provides free assistance from accredited service officers and appeals representatives to help veterans secure federal benefits, and it supports child-serving organizations through grants. Its work also includes legislative advocacy and national events and training.
