Opened in 1906
Baseball has been played on the grounds for over a century.
Parkhurst Field opened on July 12, 1906, as the A., J. & G. Baseball Park, home of the professional New York State League's JAGs. Baseball has been played on its grounds for more than a century. Located on Harrison Street between Gloversville and Johnstown, the original six-acre park was designed by F.L. Comstock and built by E.A. Satterlee. Major League players and teams also played exhibition games here, including Cy Young with the Boston Americans in 1907 and Honus Wagner with the Pittsburgh Nationals. The field's history includes minor league player "Moonlight" Graham. Parkhurst Field hosts youth baseball activities, including a free clinic for ages 5 to 15, and is undergoing development that includes grandstand construction. The Parkhurst Field Foundation is also connected to plans for a future New York State Baseball Hall of Fame in Gloversville.
