Incite Focus

In Detroit, Incite Focus is a community production and education lab focused on digital fabrication, experiential learning, permaculture and appropriate technology. Its Fab Lab provides a collaborative space where learners can explore ideas and make objects with digital tools. The Fab Academy offers hands-on instruction in envisioning, prototyping and documenting projects, with students developing a portfolio through weekly work. The five-month, part-time program runs from January to June. Incite Focus also runs a U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship in digital fabrication. Apprentices train on a range of digital tools through project-based instruction, with paid internship opportunities and job placement assistance. The lab serves learners, educators, makers and innovators, and supports small-scale production for personal, household, community and commercial uses.
