Play-based learning
Balances free play and choice with guided activities.
Play-based preschool is the core offering at this parent cooperative, serving children ages 18 months to five years. Its developmentally appropriate curriculum uses hands-on, experiential learning and balances child-directed play and choice time with facilitated group and individual activities. Learning integrates emergent literacy, science, math, dramatic play, social studies, movement, art, and music, with attention to social-emotional development and cooperation. Children learn in classrooms and use a playground; parents, teachers, and children participate in the cooperative school community. The center is NAEYC-accredited and independently operated. It is located in Denver's Platt Park neighborhood, inside the building shared by Hope and Bloom Churches.
