Claire Willis Pottery

A pottery education studio in Deerfield. Claire Willis Pottery offers workshops that introduce clay-working skills in a group setting. Weekly classes run for one to two hours over two to four weeks, with options for different disciplines and skill levels, for adults and children. Private, semi-private, and group lessons provide instruction in pottery techniques and creative exploration. The studio supports both wheel throwing and handbuilding, with four electric pottery wheels and modular canvas work surfaces. Students can work with a variety of clays, including locally sourced clay, and use brush-on and dip glazes, decorating slips, and underglazes. Pottery is fired in an electric kiln to cone 6. Instruction is Montessori-informed and student-guided, with an emphasis on learning through sensory experience and guided practice.
