Law and Leadership Institute

The Law & Leadership Institute is a nonprofit education institute. It works with high school students from underserved communities across Ohio, providing legally based academic instruction and leadership training to prepare them for careers in the legal profession. The program began in 2008 as a summer initiative of the Supreme Court of Ohio, serving students in Cleveland and Columbus, and later expanded to other Ohio cities. Students attend summer programming and Saturday sessions, where they practice writing on legal topics and can submit work for competitions. The institute also works with schools to involve students in its program. Its alumni have continued to college and law school, with graduates going on to pass the bar exam. The program serves approximately 200 high school students statewide.
