Wieboldt Foundation

Founded in 1921 by William A. and Anna K. Wieboldt, the foundation makes grants and investments intended to empower local neighborhood residents. Its primary focus is community organizing and community action. The foundation supports multi-issue organizing groups working in low-income neighborhoods and accountable to neighborhood residents. These groups help people have a major voice in decisions affecting their lives. Grant support includes community organizing and general operating support for nonprofit partners. The foundation's stated approach centers on funding efforts that bring people together around jointly defined goals and help them exercise control over their lives. Its grantee partners include organizations working across the Chicago area and elsewhere in Illinois. The foundation is based in Chicago.
