Wheeler Kearns Architects

Architectural design is the core service offered by this collective practice. Wheeler Kearns Architects develops buildings, interiors, and landscapes through an empathetic, collaborative process shaped by client goals, community feedback, workshops, observation, and design iteration. Its portfolio includes educational, residential, institutional, commercial, and community-focused projects, ranging from residences and retreats to learning centers, markets, and arts venues. The practice also addresses details such as door hardware and interpretive landscape elements, while pursuing sustainable and meaningful design solutions across projects of varying size and complexity. Founded in 1987, the 18-person team works from Chicago and emphasizes a personalized approach, shared understanding, and careful refinement throughout each commission.
