UChicago Urban Labs

In Chicago, UChicago Urban Labs is a university-based research organization addressing challenges across five dimensions of urban life. Its Education Lab partners with school districts to design, evaluate, and scale programs and practices that advance student learning and opportunity. The broader organization also includes labs focused on crime, health, economic opportunity, and energy and the environment. Urban Labs works with public-sector agencies, community-based organizations, civic leaders, and private-sector partners to carry out research and evaluate programs and policies.
