Travelers Rest Baptist Church

Missionary Baptist worship services are the central offering of Travelers Rest Baptist Church. The congregation traces its history to Shake Rag Baptist Church, organized under Reverend L.O. Kelly before Reverend E.T. Smith became pastor in 1925. Members later purchased land, built a wooden frame church, and selected the Travelers Rest Missionary Baptist Church name. The church expanded its leadership, facilities, and worship schedule over the years. Sunday worship services began every week in 1987, following earlier morning and evening services. The church also developed a Sunday School, Deacon Board, Trustee Board, administrative staff, and the Samuel Murphy Senior Youth Choir. Visitors can watch recorded services online.
