The Mexican Folkloric Dance Company of Chicago

The Mexican Hat Dance is part of the repertoire of the Mexican Folkloric Dance Company of Chicago, a performing arts company founded in 1982. Its programs preserve and present traditional Mexican folk dance, with more than 40 styles represented from the 300-plus recognized forms. The company performs throughout Chicagoland, across the United States, and internationally, including appearances at the Latin GRAMMYs, Premios Lo Nuestro, the Pan-American Games, and the 1994 USA World Cup opening ceremonies. It has appeared at venues such as the Harris Theater, Chicago Theater, Auditorium Theater, Ravinia Park, and Jay Pritzker Pavilion. The not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization also focuses on cultural preservation and education through dance training and public performances.
