The Alterationist

Bridal gown alterations are the focus of The Alterationist at 804 N. Bishop Street in Chicago. The business begins with a consultation appointment to review a gown's needs, discuss the work and timeline, and provide an estimate. Bridal clients may schedule first, second, and third fittings, with additional appointments when needed. The first fitting is generally planned three to four months before the wedding, while the final fitting is scheduled no more than three weeks before the date. Clients are advised to bring their wedding shoes and undergarments for a more accurate estimate. The $50 consultation fee is credited toward alteration fees when the client proceeds with the work. Payment is split between the middle of the process and pickup.
