The Adler Planetarium

Dome shows and astronomy exhibits explore planets, space science, and the history of observing the universe. Visitors can experience Worlds Beyond Earth, with journeys around Saturn, buried oceans, active volcanoes, and distant worlds. The museum also presents astronomy collections featuring astrolabes, handmade telescopes, art, and literature. The Doane Observatory supports observing experiences, while public events include Dark Matter Day and other calendar programs. Research, virtual programs, and family-friendly science activities extend the experience beyond an onsite visit. School and group learning can include field trips. Located on Chicago's lakeshore, the Adler Planetarium also offers ways to explore astronomy from home through digital content and hands-on experiments using common household items.
