Special Kids Foundation

Grant funding is central to the Special Kids Foundation, which supports organizations serving children with developmental disabilities through education, treatment, and inclusion. The Chicago foundation awards grants to agencies offering programs such as special education, speech and physical therapy, integrated respite, camp, theater, vocational training, and assistive technology. Its work began in 1926 as the Dorothy Kahn Club for Crippled Children, and the organization became the Special Kids Foundation in 2006. Grants are intended to expand access to treatment and education, support participation in community, school, and home environments, and help caregivers understand available resources. The foundation reviews organizations through an eight-month grant process before awarding funds.
