Puerto Rican Bar Association of Illinois

The Puerto Rican Bar Association of Illinois is a nonprofit organization serving Latino lawyers and the Latino community. Established in 1994, it advocates for diversity in the Illinois bar, law schools, legislature, and judiciary. The association provides a professional and social network for lawyers, judges, and law students who share an interest in diversity. It hosts continuing legal education programs and substantive seminars to strengthen legal skills. Activities also include judicial candidate screening and rating, support for efforts to place more Latinos on the bench, and education and community service initiatives. The organization collaborates with Chicago Public Schools on a Lawyers in the Classroom Mock Trial program and supports Latino law students through its foundation scholarship program. It is based in Chicago.
