Landscape design for a barren college courtyard is one example of MUM's work. The Chicago professional services business designs modern, site-sensitive landscapes shaped by clients' lifestyles and existing architecture. Its projects include residential properties and institutional spaces, with design approaches ranging from contemporary courtyards to semi-formal European-inspired gardens. Work can involve restoring woodland and oak savanna, clearing invasive species, and using plantings to define a home's architecture. Other projects have included garden beds, fountains, a koi pond, patios, and hardscape features. MUM describes its design philosophy as focused on modern, sustainable, low-impact landscape solutions. Projects also address integration with existing plantings and the restoration or adaptation of established landscapes.
