Hermitage Street Community Garden

NeighborSpace protects and sustains community gardens in Chicago, including Hermitage Street Community Garden. The nonprofit urban land trust works with community groups that manage local garden sites and provides support related to property ownership, basic liability insurance, water access, stewardship, education, tool lending, project planning, fundraising, and technical assistance. Its programs also include permanent protection against potential development, local partnerships, and stewardship mini grants. Community gardens supported by NeighborSpace offer neighborhood spaces for gardening, food production, nature, play, health, and community gatherings. The organization has partnered with community groups across Chicago since 2015, helping local gardeners maintain sites while retaining community management and control.
