Global Garden Refugee Training Farm

A vacant lot became a productive garden in 2012, when 42 refugee families began growing vegetables in Chicago's Albany Park neighborhood. Today, Global Gardens Chicago operates a one-acre farm with plots for refugee families and market farmers. Families grow produce for home consumption, while market farmers sell to restaurants, farmers markets, the CSA program, and wholesale buyers. The farm provides land, tools, seed, and training, supporting food access and supplemental income for participating refugee farmers. Produce is grown with sustainable practices using materials approved for organic production, without pesticides. The organization also supports donations to food pantries and offers seasonal public programming, including cultural concerts and cooking classes led by farmers. It is part of Global Garden Refugee Training Farm.
