About German American National Congress
A German-American community organization. The German American National Congress, known as DANK, brings together German-Americans through cultural, educational, and heritage activities. Its programs foster friendship between the United States and Germany, support German language and cultural studies, and facilitate genealogy research of German ancestry. DANK also conducts language schools for children and adults, organizes exchange programs and cross-cultural activities, and hosts events celebrating German culture and heritage. Members can participate in local chapter functions, language classes, networking, and activities at DANK Haus, a Chicago cultural center with a museum, art gallery, library, and special events. The organization has 17 chapters in seven states, including eight in the greater Chicagoland area.
