DePaul University Byrne Hall

A university campus building in Chicago. Built in 1907, Byrne Hall is recognized as DePaul University's first building and is located at 2219 N. Kenmore Ave. It houses academic departments and student service offices, continuing its role in campus life. The building originally supported early academic programs when St. Vincent's College was rechartered as DePaul University. Byrne Hall is part of DePaul's Lincoln Park Campus and features Collegiate Gothic architecture. In June 2026, the Chicago City Council designated Byrne Hall a Chicago Landmark, recognizing its historical importance and protecting its exterior and defining features. The designation preserves the building as a visible link to DePaul University and the broader Lincoln Park community's history.
