Audio collections
Nine collections hold more than 6,000 recordings and ephemera.
A Chicago archive for experimental music and sonic arts. It preserves and investigates innovative sonic art and music, with nine collections containing more than 6,000 recordings and related ephemera. The materials document experimental music from the latter half of the 20th century, including changes in independent cultural production and interdisciplinary sonic cultures. Collection materials are processed, transferred, cataloged, and encoded, with finding aids updated as this work proceeds. The archive is open to the public by appointment for access to its collections. Artists also activate materials from the archive through public programs held throughout the year. Researchers and other visitors can request access or contribute context and information about materials in the collections.
