Comfort Station

Comfort Station operates a historic Chicago building as a public gathering space for community-driven arts programs. It provides exhibitions, music, and film programming, along with platforms for emerging artists and grassroots organizers to share work and build connections. Free open calls for exhibitions and a year-round community proposal process invite artists, organizers, and community members to participate. The space also supports creative communities through artist-focused opportunities and public events. Programs emphasize access for BIPOC artists, women, LGBTQ+ communities, trans and gender non-conforming people, disabled artists, and other historically underrepresented groups. Comfort Station is wheelchair accessible, with step-free entry, wide pathways, an ADA-accessible restroom, and seating that can be arranged for different needs. It has operated in Chicago since 2011.
