About Bright Star Church
Church services are the congregation's core offering. Bright Star Church is part of the Church of God in Christ and is led by Senior Pastor Chris Harris, Sr., who was appointed to the role in 1999. The church has a congregation of more than 1,250 people. Its pastor also preaches and teaches leadership development, and has ministered through Gospel music and interfaith work. All services are held at Kenwood Academy High School. The church is in Chicago's Bronzeville community. Its pastor established Bright Star Community Outreach in 2009 to address community needs; that organization is distinct from the church's worship services.
