About Blazing Star School
Blazing Star School is a specialty school in Chicago. It offers an academic year program built around exploration, personalized learning, and hands-on experiences rather than worksheets and standardized tests. Children can pursue their interests, collaborate with peers, play outside, and develop problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with guidance from experienced facilitators. The school also provides summer camps and day-off camps. Its educational approach emphasizes self-motivation, curiosity, relationships with teachers, and learning through the environment. Blazing Star serves families seeking a daily learning community with elements of homeschooling or unschooling, including families who value outdoor activity, socialization, and care for the earth, each other, and themselves. Enrollment is available for fall 2026.
