Birth Center of Chicago

In Chicago's North Center neighborhood, Birth Center of Chicago is a birth center focused on midwife-led prenatal and perinatal care. The center is not currently accepting patients or providing clinical care because of an unexpected lapse in malpractice insurance coverage required for state licensure. Families already receiving care are supported during the transition through referrals, medical-record assistance, and guidance connecting with alternative providers throughout the Chicagoland area. When operating, the center's care included an initial appointment to review medical history and assess fit, ongoing support during pregnancy and labor, and continued aftercare at home. The practice also provided information about birth-center costs, insurance, and water birth.
