Bikes N' Roses

Hands-on bicycle mechanics training is central to Bikes N' Roses, a youth-driven bicycle cooperative serving Chicago's west and northwest neighborhoods. The organization provides job training and employment opportunities for young people while using bicycles as a medium for social change. Participants learn mechanical skills applicable to college and careers, develop leadership abilities, and engage with their communities. Bikes N' Roses also creates custom and art-focused bicycles, including lowrider bikes and a blender bike built for a community gathering. Past events have featured youth-painted bike galleries, spoke card crafts, Goldsprints, and shirts designed and printed by participants. Its programs connect cycling with creative expression, peer relationships, and community engagement.
