About American Friends Service Committee
A Quaker nonprofit organization focused on peace and justice. Founded in 1917, the American Friends Service Committee works with people of all faiths and backgrounds in communities around the world. Its work addresses violence, inequality, and oppression, with strategic goals centered on sustainable peace, just economies, and responses to migration. The organization supports community efforts, pursues systemic change, and engages in advocacy with public officials. It also provides emergency relief and resources for people facing deportation, and shares guidance on mutual aid and civic action. AFSC works in 18 countries and involves young people in efforts to create change. Its approach is guided by Quaker beliefs and commitments to human dignity, equality, and active nonviolence.
