About The North Carolina Academy of Art
Located in Charlotte's NoDa Arts District, this classical art school provides training in drawing and oil painting. Beginners are welcome, and no portfolio is required. Instruction follows the classical Atelier approach, with figure life drawing and studies from Bargue plates and casts. Painting classes include figure life painting and projects in still life, portraiture, and landscape. Students can enroll in part-time or full-time programs. Part-time enrollment is available throughout the year in 12-week blocks, subject to space; the full-time curriculum follows fall, winter, spring, and summer terms. The school also offers workshops. Visits to its Charlotte studio are by appointment only.
