The Painted Cloud

The Painted Cloud is an arts education initiative. It creates projects and partnerships with K-12 schools, universities, and community organizations, as well as independent projects. Artists and educators Sarah Conarro and Julian Bozeman lead the work, bringing their own art practices into teaching. Sessions invite young artists to explore materials and ideas through prompts, questions, and visual metaphors. The approach centers on participatory inquiry and shared making rather than fixed instruction. Projects can draw on assemblage, collage, installation, and performance, forms that also appear in the collaborators' personal work. The initiative works in school and community settings, creating spaces for experimentation, exchange, and collaboration. The Painted Cloud is a registered LLC and an approved NYC Department of Education vendor.
