Founded in 1999
Started as a small boutique in Brooklyn's Park Slope.
Bird began as a Park Slope boutique in 1999, bringing emerging designer collections to Brooklyn for the first time. Over more than twenty years, it curated women's clothing from emerging and established global designers, with an emphasis on locally and sustainably produced independent collections. Bird's assortment included colorful, distinctive designs selected for personal expression and everyday wear. The business expanded to Cobble Hill, Williamsburg, and Fort Greene, while its Williamsburg flagship added a permanent men's assortment. Bird also opened Baby Bird next door in 2001 for clients starting families. Its Brooklyn stores were designed as welcoming, colorful retail spaces, and the business supported eco-conscious practices through community partnerships, charitable giving, and sustainability standards.
