Peer-led training
Leadership, employment, awareness, and self-advocacy training.
Regional groups, peer-led trainings, conferences, and retreats are among the services Massachusetts Advocates Standing Strong provides. Its members take part in groups, committees, and task forces focused on issues such as supportive decision making and voting. The organization also offers a Self-Advocacy Leadership Series for transitional youth and adults, along with employment and awareness trainings and sessions for DDS Service Coordinators. Self-advocates can request help starting a group, receive basic self-advocacy and self-determination training, and connect with opportunities to share their expertise. MASS also arranges speakers who discuss personal stories and specific issues with community audiences. Its advocacy work includes legislation, special projects, and individual self-advocacy. The organization operates statewide through five regions and is based in Boston.
