Academic mentoring
Volunteer mentors help students build skills and confidence.
Volunteer academic mentors work with Boston Public Schools students to build academic skills, self-confidence, and motivation. The organization trains volunteers and matches them with students who can benefit from additional classroom support, including help with reading and other schoolwork. Teachers can nominate students and request a volunteer for their classroom. Mentoring also addresses students' socio-emotional support needs, and the programs are provided at no cost to students or their families. Boston Partners in Education has supported Boston Public Schools since 1966. Its work includes adapting mentor training to student needs and recruiting volunteers who share students' languages and lived experiences. The organization is based in Boston, Massachusetts.
