How Much Does Yacht Rental Cost?
Yacht rental costs depend on the boat, trip length, passenger count, location, and whether a captain and extras are included.
Common jobs and what they cost
| Job | What it involves | Typical range |
|---|---|---|
| Short outing on a small yacht | A few hours, smaller group | $300 - $800 |
| Half-day yacht charter | Several hours, captain often included | $600 - $1,800 |
| Full-day yacht charter | Day trip, larger group or boat | $1,500 - $4,000 |
| Luxury or crewed yacht | Premium boat, crew, added services | $4,000 - $15,000+ |
Ranges are typical, not quotes - the price for your job depends on scope and location, so always confirm with the provider.
What moves the price
Boat size, age, amenities, and passenger capacity are major cost drivers. A captain or crew may be included in the advertised rate or charged separately, and fuel, cleaning, docking, and gratuity can add to the final bill. Hourly, half-day, and full-day minimums vary by operator.
Prices also depend on the destination and season. Popular coastal areas and holiday weekends tend to cost more than quieter dates or inland locations. Ask whether the quote covers fuel, taxes, insurance, and permitted passenger limits before comparing options.
How to keep the cost down
Consider a weekday or off-season trip, choose a smaller boat, and book only the time you need. Sharing the cost with a group can also make a charter more affordable per person.
Request an itemized quote and confirm cancellation terms and extra fees before paying a deposit. Comparing two or three quotes from independently reviewed providers on Reedleys shows quickly whether a number is fair.
Price questions, answered
Many operators collect a deposit or card authorization to reserve the boat. Check when it is refundable and how weather-related cancellations are handled.
Some charters include a licensed captain, while others list the captain as an added charge or require a qualified operator. Confirm who is responsible for navigation and safety.
Ask about fuel, taxes, marina fees, cleaning, crew gratuity, and food or beverage service. The advertised rate may cover only the boat and stated rental period.
